One of our visitors asked :
I’m buying a projector for home theater and computer uses, but I am having trouble understanding what kind of surround sound to hook up to a projector. I really want to go wireless if possible. I don't know if these projectors have an FM or bluetooth signal emitted for audio or if I need a wire. The projector is an Optoma HD73 or HD72.
I would like to view movies from my computer and other sources with my Optoma projector in surround sound, I was wondering what kind of hook up would be needed to do this and how to high connect it to my projector. Could I do this wirelessly with FM, bluetooth or some other method? Any assistance would be most welcome.
Answer: You are making it more complicated than it need be. The best solution is to purchase and use a surround audio receiver. The projector will really have nothing to do with the sound and will strictly handle just the visual images.
The audio receiver will get it's sound signal from your video source, be it a DVD or Blu-ray player or perhaps a computer. The receiver does all the surround processing and amplification sending it out to your speakers.
Wireless isn't really worth it for the quality sound. You'll simply want to use quality RCA cables to hook up your audio source to your receiver.
Hope this helps you and good luck.
