DLP Projectors
A DLP or Digital Light Processing projector uses the Digital Micro mirror Device semiconductor, a chip that contains two million microscopic mirrors. These mirrors reflect the digital image onto a flat surface or a screen. This electronic technology was invented by Dr. Larry Hornbeck and is a trademark of Texas Instruments.
DLP technology helped make the Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) obsolete; although the CRT produced deep blacks and a complete range of colors, brightness was the issue. Since then, there was no turning back for digital display technology.

How it Works
The DLP video projector displays images by sending light through a prism from a metal halide lamp. This type of lamp is used because of its ability to produce more colors and produce more light in a small area; it is not unusual for a DLP video projector to average some 2000 up to 4000 ANSI lumens.
As the light is beamed, the prism separates light to three panels specifically for the blue, green, and red components. The light patterns go through the panels, and when it does, the individual pixels opens to block or let light in. The pixels, open and closed, creates a wide spectrum of colors on the image reflected on the screen.
Plus Factors
This technology enables a singular DLP video projector chip to create millions of colors and the three-chip system produces colors in the trillions. Expect high quality pictures and quality brightness from this projector. These make the projector perfect for gaming and presentations for huge crowds.
Unlike other projectors that give visible pixilation when the movie is viewed from a normal distance, the DLP projector has less pixilation. Contrast performance is another edge the DLP technology has over the LCD. Texas Instruments have improved the chip design to increase the capability of the small mirrors to advance contrast performance.
Sleek design and portability of the DLP home movie projector are extra plus factors that make this projector the perfect choice for a home entertainment system.
Compared to other video projectors, the DLP is affordable. With all the plus factors in an affordable unit, more people are watching home movies from DLP video projector. But there are expensive models sporting changes that have vastly improved the DLP projector.
